Four of our Persistent Women took a trip to Austin recently to visit with 10 of our state legislators.
Because of the honey/vinegar truth, we delivered loaves of pumpkin bread to them.
This was Karen Stone’s first such trip. She reports:
“I learned a lot and got plenty of exercise round that rotunda and up and down the steps. I came away with a sense of hope for this legislative session.”
We hope she’s right. And we’ll continue to pay attention. And persist. Because we are happy to show up with honey … but we’re certainly not opposed to vinegar if these folks don’t fight for Texas women!
We’ll return to Austin on March 15 for the important Texas Task Force on Maternal Mortality and Morbidity meeting. (Read our thoughts on the importance of this task force and what it needs to do this session here.) Please let us know if you’d like to join us!
Thanks to all the legislators — on both sides of the aisle — who took the time to meet with us. We look forward to working with you.
